#CALL OF DUTY 4 MODERN WARFARE MAC PC#
It's crashed hard once taking down my computer, and it required a typical bullcrap installation procedure typical of PC games that I remember (funny I did not have to authorize the console version or enter in a dumb arse CD Key on the PS3). But COD4? Works well enough.ĥ stars because really the game is perfect.we know that.Ĥ stars overall because the PC/Mac version of the game is really not as refined as the console versions, although the Mac version has cleaner graphics than the PS3 which is part of the reason I went for it.just to see. Ultra settings for SCII brings my iMac to the single digit FPS.a clear no go. That said, it am finding it actually nicer to play it with a controller on a game console, so I don't miss the PC gamer in me at all.Īll in all it was $25 well spent if only to prove I could do it and that my iMac was a nice rig which it is, but I knew that since it runs SCII at 60FPS in medium and FPS in high settings. Of course I remember the game on the PS3 and loved it and so I also like on my Mac, but it did crash hard with a repeating sound that required a hard restart of my Mac, but otherwise it's what I remember and I will enjoy playing it again mouse style. In the first mission on the boat I am around 30 FPS. In the first training set I am at 50-60 FPS. I type in the console key and run /cg_drawFPS 1 to get a frames per second. I push it hard at 1920x1080p (native) and 2X AA, keeping filtering to zero I guess (I don't know what that is), setting up medium bodies, wall shoot effect and all else at normal instead of low or off. I set up the controls and then go about tuning the graphics and such to see what this 2010 iMac can do. But I don't give up because I used to be a PC gamer. Right away I remember why I left PC gaming. Insert disc, create name, start new game, start playing at native resolution on a HDTV.

Seriously.on a 1080p display that's the best it can do? I remember the PS3 version. The resolution is "optomized" for my system which puts it at 640x480 resolution. The dock bounces and then.bam! I get to enter in the CD Key.

I download that and go through the update not really thinking it will fix the issue fully expecting I will contact Aspyr about this tomorrow. The retail disc version is 1.5 and the update is 1.7. Then I see on that there is an update for the game. I visit and follow the crazy instructions about unlocking this or that making the read/write for everyone (it's all described in the Read Me as well) and I get the same result. I can't even determine how my Mac will perform with this game since it won't even launch.

I am not even allowed to enter in the CD key code on to launch the game. Rinse wash and repeat the copy and the same. I follow all the directions and do exactly as I read and it launches to the dock, bounces around a bit then fails with a window. Not Authorized. I drag and drop the game as instructed and 25 minutes later about 8GB is on my desktop, COD4. I surf the net, run a few other mild games and do nothing else with it really that complicates the system-very bone stock in almost every way so the OS is clean and not bungled down with random resource hogs. It's a 2010 iMac Intel Core i5 3.6GHz with 8GB RAM (4x2GB-Apple), 1TB HD, Radeon 512MB 5670 on MacOS 10.6.4. Yea it's and old game but my Mac is new and I don't have many games on my Mac so. I jump on it and knowing the reviews about performance on a Mac I thought why not try it out. Then Amazon has this game new for $24.95. I didn't want to pay $50 for the Mac version when I am playing COD4 Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops. But I recently bought a nice new iMac 2010 that handles StarCraft II well and I thought I would think about COD4 again. I have been thinking about getting this game for my iMac 2010 for a while but never seriously thought about it since I already had it for my Playstation 3 and played through several times.
